Zines and indie comics collection pt.1

Hi there! Thanks for coming to read my thoughts about art- how I feel about my own art and my inspirations and influences mostly.

For my first post I’m gonna show off some of my favourite zines in my collection at my studio, I’ll also do a part 2 eventually for my collection at home!

And now in no particular order, I present some of my favourite zines and indie comics:

First I have Rule Break by Anna Syvertsson published by PEOW. I can’t actually remember where I got this. It’s a collection of comics and drawings and they’re all hilarious, just so cute and funny and really influenced me to draw silly comics about my daily life. Buy and read it online here: https://peow.gumroad.com/l/rulebreak

Wrecked Hearts by Luca Oliveri and Mathilda Kitteh, also published by PEOW. I picked this up at ELCAF one year, it’s 2 lovely stories set in space, you can buy and read it digitally here: https://peow.gumroad.com/l/wreckedhearts

Part Time Cafe Assistant by Lottie Pencheon is a story about a booked and blessed illustrator who just wants to quit and pursue their ultimate dream- being a barista! I picked this up at the first zine fair I stalled at with Seadog Collective, I don’t think you can buy it online but go follow @nonolottie on Instagram.

Fish Flake by Seekan Hui is a super cute story about a pedal boat trip gone wrong, I think I picked this up at Shake Bristol but don’t quote me on that. Again not sure if you can buy it online but check out Seekan’s work here:https://www.seekanhui.com

And one more for this tour: the Pingu Zine! A collaborative zine of works about my favourite claymation penguin, conceived and edited by Zainab Akhtar, published by Shortbox. The zine is full of gorgeous comics and illustrations but my favourite might be Rosie Brand’s (@rosiebrand) contribution. It’s no longer on the Shortbox website but check out other quality comics here https://www.shortbox.co.uk

I have tonnes more favourite comics but I’ll start with these for now.
